The Poulsbo Film Festival and Visit Kitsap Peninsula are teaming up to host the inaugural 47.7 Hour Film Challenge, a fast-paced competition where filmmakers will race against the clock to write, shoot, and edit a short film in just 47.7 hours.
Set for Feb. 28 – March 2, 2025, the challenge invites teams to create original short films, ranging from three to 20 minutes in length, with at least one scene filmed in Poulsbo. The first-place winner will receive a $10,000 contract with Visit Kitsap Peninsula to produce a spring-themed commercial for the city.
The challenge kicks off with a launch event at Western Red Brewing on Feb. 28, where filmmakers will receive their official film parameters at 7 p.m. Films must be submitted by 7 p.m. on March 2 via Dropbox or on a flash drive at Western Red Brewing.
“This event brings filmmakers to Poulsbo and highlights the city as a dynamic backdrop for storytelling,” said Kevin Sheen, founder of the Poulsbo Film Festival. “We’re excited to see what creative minds can do in such a short time.”
Submitted films will be screened at Western Red Brewing on March 29, where both the first-place winner (determined by jurors) and the Audience Award winner will be announced. We’ll have a 4pm screening and a 7pm screening where we will announce the winners of the competition. Get your tickets today!
